Background
I am a Research Fellow on "What Matters To Us": Children's Views on Meaningful Outcomes in Barnahus.
Barnahus (which translates to 'Children's House' in Icelandic) is a multidisciplinary response to child sexual abuse in Europe that aims to bring together all relevant professionals to provide a coordinated child-centered response for investigation and support.
"What Matters To Us" is part of a wider project to develop and test a common evaluation framework that is sensitive to, and adaptable to, differences in context and variations in the implementation of Barnahus across Europe. The multi-country "What Matters To Us" component utilises creative and participatory research methods to capture children's priorities for Barnahus services, and identify ethical methods for involving children in service feedback and evaluation, ultimately ensuring the wider evaluation framework truly reflects children's views and experiences.
Prior to joining The University of Edinburgh in January 2026, I worked in research and evaluation across private and third sector settings, including five years leading child abuse and exploitation research and evaluation for a UK-wide children's charity. My particular interest lies in projects that inform policy and practice aimed at improving outcomes for children and young people.
