Description

Brazil will hold national elections in October, with the presidential vote likely to reflect territorial divides. Public attitudes toward the distribution of power within the federation also follow partisan lines, with stronger support for centralisation among President Lula’s voters.

This talk by Rogerio Schlegel outlines the electoral landscape and examines the relationship between partisanship and preferences for de/centralisation.

Rogerio is Professor at Universidade Federal de São Paulo.
