In this inaugural lecture I reflect on the importance and the process of agenda-setting in public policy. I offer a discussion focusing on core agenda-setting mechanics as well as ongoing and developing concerns over what determines the agendas of political actors, from the role of institutions, to representation, to concerns over misinformation. Presenting findings from my own body of work as well as how I have supported research in the field, I argue that this field of research is both essential for understanding political processes and a rich landscape for new and innovative scholarship.
