Description
In this seminar, Prof Ruth Patrick will attempt the work of synergising evidence drawn from a diverse range of empirical projects encompassing Changing Realities (participatory online research with parents and carers in poverty); Safety Nets (an examination of the relationship between devolution and social security in the UK); and Family Finances(a comparative assessment of the impact of the Scottish Child Payment). In this effort, Ruth will zone in on the prospects and barriers to sustained change here; the importance of looking at and learning from policy differences that exist at the national, regional and local levels, and the wider challenge to continually change how social security is positioned within popular discourses.
